TERMS, CONDITIONS, AND PRIVACY POLICY FOR ONLINE CHAT SERVICE

This document (the “Policy”) is an agreement between you and HAVEN, and describes the terms and conditions governing your use of this interactive service and the websites associated with it (collectively, “Online Chat”) and your relationship with HAVEN and its contractors, agents, vendors, related entities, donors, or representatives, including but not limited to iCarol (all of which will be referred to collectively in this document as “HAVEN”).
Online Chat Is Not Advice
Your participation in Online Chat, including any communication made to you through Online chat, is not medical care, counseling, therapy, treatment, or legal advice. HAVEN is not responsible for any decisions or results of the decisions that you make while, as a result of, or after participating in Online Chat. This includes whether you choose to seek or not seek professional medical or psychiatric care, or to modify or terminate specific treatment that you currently are receiving based on the information provided by this service. Online Chat should not take the place of seeking personalized advice from a medical or legal professional.
Information We Collect About You and How We Collect It
We may collect several types of information from and about users of Online Chat, including information:
- by which you may be personally identified, such as name, postal address, e-mail address or telephone number (“personal information”);
- that is about you but individually does not identify you, such as basic demographic information; and/or
- about your internet connection, the equipment you use to access Online Chat and usage details.
We collect this information either directly from you when you provide it to us, or automatically as you navigate through Online Chat. Information collected automatically may include usage details, IP addresses and information collected through cookies, web beacons, and other tracking technologies.

Although we limit access to certain pages and features, please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable.
Usage Details, IP Addresses, and Cookies
As you use Online Chat, we may automatically collect certain information about your equipment, browsing actions and patterns, including:
- Details of your visits to Online Chat, including traffic data, location data, logs and other communication data and the resources that you access and use on Online Chat.
- Information about your computer and internet connection, including your IP address, operating system and browser type.
The information we collect automatically is statistical data, and does not identify any individual. It helps us to improve Online Chat and to deliver a better and more personalized service by enabling us to:
- Estimate our audience size and usage patterns.
- Store information about your preferences, allowing us to customize Online Chat according to your individual interests.
- Speed up your searches.
- Recognize you when you return to Online Chat.

Choices About How We Use and Disclose Your Information
You are ultimately responsible for choosing how much personal information to provide us in connection with Online Chat. You can set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you disable or refuse cookies, please note that some parts of this site may then be inaccessible or not function properly. Through Online Chat or related websites, HAVEN may provide links or referrals to outside agencies located in various communities with the goal of helping families find the resources they need. Our provision of such information does not constitute endorsement, sponsorship, or recommendation of the information or services found on any of these third party sites. HAVEN makes no guarantees as to the accuracy or quality of the information found on third party websites. Should you choose to rely on any information located on these third party websites, you do so at your own risk.
Age Requirement
Online Chat is not intended for children under 13 years of age. No one under age 13 may provide any information through Online Chat. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use or provide any information through Online Chat. If we learn we have collected or received personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. Changes to This Policy
HAVEN may from time to time make additions or alterations to this Policy. These changes will be displayed here, and will be effective once posted. We ask that you check this Policy regularly. This Policy may only be amended in writing by a newer policy document posted by HAVEN on the Online Chat website or other related website. The Policy may not be amended by an Online Chat representative during the course of an interaction with an Online Chat user.
General Disclaimer of Liability
HAVEN DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EITHER EXPRESSED, IMPLIED, OR OTHERWISE. YOUR USE OF ONLINE CHAT IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK. IN NO EVENT SHALL HAVEN (AS DEFINED ABOVE) BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, INCIDENTAL AND CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, PERSONAL INJURY/WRONGFUL DEATH, LOST PROFITS, OR DAMAGES RESULTING FROM LOST DATA OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION) RESULTING FROM THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE ONLINE CHAT OR THE CONTENTS, INFORMATION OR SERVICES AVAILABLE ON OR THROUGH ONLINE CHAT.
HAVEN makes no guarantee that the Online Chat website or related resources will be free of viruses, spyware, or other destructive material, and HAVEN is not liable for any damage to any hardware or software device, or for any inconvenience or difficulty, caused by use of such resources. Your sole remedy against HAVEN for dissatisfaction with Online Chat or any content thereon is to stop using Online Chat.
Enforceability
If any provision of this Policy is held to be unenforceable for any reason, this will not affect any of the other provisions, which shall remain in full force and effect. This Policy shall be governed by the laws of the United States of America and the State of Michigan. Any action arising from the use of Online Chat shall be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction and venue in the counties of Oakland or Wayne, Michigan.
